Sharing of Relevant Data on China's Steel Pipe Market

As a global steel-producing country, China dominates half of the world's steel production. With the impact of overseas geopolitical conflicts and epidemics in recent years, the cost of steel exports has increased significantly, and demand has gradually weakened. China's steel exports are on a downward trend, but it is still the world's largest steel exporter.

 

The Exports of Steel Pipes

From January to September 2022, the exports of China's steel pipes were 6.3275 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 26%. The average export price was US$1884/ton, representing a year-on-year increase of 31%. The main exporting countries are detailed in Table 1. The main exporting regions are South Korea, the Philippines, the United Arab Emirates, etc.

 

The Exports of Seamless Steel Pipes

From January to September 2022, the exports of seamless steel pipes were 3.4833 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 57%, and the price was US$1,700/ton, representing a year-on-year increase of 17%. The main exporting countries or regions are shown in Table 2.

 

The Exports of Welded Pipes

From January to September 2022, the exports of welded pipes were 2.8441 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 1%, and the price was US$2,109/ton, representing a year-on-year increase of 48%. The main exporting countries or regions are detailed in Table 3.

 

National Steel Output

According to data released by the National Bureau of Statistics of China, in August 2022, the national steel output was 83.868 million tons, representing a year-on-year increase of 0.5%. From January to August, the national steel output was 693.149 million tons, representing a year-on-year decrease of 5.7%.

 

 

Judging from the data of provinces and cities, steel output in most provinces and cities fell in the first eight months of 2022. Among them, steel output in nine provinces and cities fell by more than 10% year-on-year, respectively, Shandong fell by 15.05%, Yunnan fell by 11.32%, Tianjin fell by 15.38%, Shanghai fell by 16.17%, Jilin fell by 18.79%, Zhejiang fell by 10.99%, Chongqing fell by 16.41%, Guizhou fell by 14.54%, Qinghai fell by 17.79%.
