Pipe Show 2026 Information Energy demand drives industry maintenance and investment, and the U.S. steel pipe manufacturing industry meets challenges and opportunities

As the U.S. oil and gas and other energy industries continue to expand, the demand for metal materials in the production and construction industry is increasing. Pipe Show 2026 believes that steel pipes, as key industrial consumables, are directly linked to downstream industries such as energy infrastructure. In anticipation of increased demand, steel and metal manufacturing companies are actively planning and initiating a series of maintenance and upgrade projects for production facilities to ensure stable production capacity and enhance competitiveness.

Pipe Show 2026 learned that in the fourth quarter of 2024 alone, about 140 maintenance-related projects are planned to be launched in the U.S. metals and minerals industry, and about half of the investment value of these projects is directed to the manufacturing of steel and downstream metal products. In the field of metal rolling, processing and manufacturing, steel pipes are one of the most affected product categories.

Take Webco Industries Incorporated, an Oklahoma-based industrial plumbing manufacturer, whose Mumford-based pipe plant plans to schedule a two-week shutdown. During this period, the factory will conduct comprehensive inspections and repairs of two large natural gas boilers and other core equipment to ensure the continuity and safety of production.

The U.S. subsidiary of Borusan Holding, another major producer, is also planning a maintenance shutdown for its steel pipe manufacturing plant. In the face of growing market demand, Borusan plans to implement a series of expansions and technological transformations at the Panama City plant to enrich its product portfolio and meet the diversified needs of the market.

Executives at Steel Dynamics, a major U.S. steel producer, recently pointed out that although the rise in raw material costs cannot be ignored, the company's order volume is sufficient, and the production plan has even been scheduled for two years. This confirms that there is a continuous and solid long-term demand for steel pipes and other products in the downstream market, especially in the field of energy pipeline construction.

At present, the steel pipe manufacturing industry in the United States is at a critical juncture. The boom in the energy market provides a clear demand pull, and the initiative of enterprises to maintain equipment and invest in production capacity is a necessary strategic measure to meet future challenges and seize growth opportunities.
