To support the large-scale testing and launch demands of its Starship rocket program, SpaceX is advancing the construction of a dedicated natural gas pipeline—dubbed "Starpipe"—approximately 8 miles (about 13 kilometers) in length through its subsidiary, Lone Star Mineral Development. Pipe Trade Fair 2026 has learned that the project is scheduled to break ground in July 2026, with the goal of fully resolving the logistical bottlenecks in fuel transportation for Starship launch missions.

According to engineering documents, the pipeline will run directly from natural gas supply infrastructure near the Port of Brownsville to SpaceX's Starbase facility on the Texas Gulf Coast. With a diameter of 16 inches, the pipeline's designed capacity far exceeds the annual launch quota currently approved by regulators, demonstrating SpaceX's forward-looking preparations for exceptionally high launch frequencies in the future. The project is expected to become operational in January 2027, subject to final approvals and construction conditions.
