Pipe Exhibition 2026 has learned that in order to enable team collaboration, meet pipe production demands, and improve efficiency, many manufacturers in the pipe industry have adopted advanced technologies, including robots and collaborative robots. This not only boosts efficiency and fills labor gaps but also ensures product quality.
In 2010, Toyota Motor Corporation launched an Advanced Manufacturing Technician internal training program in Kentucky, collaborating with multiple technical colleges and local suppliers.
Pipe Exhibition 2026 learned that the program uses an employer-led Advanced Manufacturing Education Consortium model, teaching technical skills, professional behavior development, and the principles of lean manufacturing.
Jag Reddy, President and CEO of Mayville Engineering Co. Inc., stated, “The main purpose of investing in apprenticeship programs and internal hands-on training is to cultivate talent internally and provide team members with long-term career development plans. This training model enhances employees’ professional skills and also fosters long-term loyalty.”
The head of the tube bending workshop at Globe Engineering in Wichita, Kansas, said that developing employee skills is a strategic goal of the company. The aim is to strengthen internal training, help existing employees advance to higher-skilled positions, and then hire new employees to fill lower-skilled roles.
For pipe companies to improve the overall operational level of their workforce, the focus should be on retaining existing skilled employees. Ensuring that compensation, promotion, and career paths are aligned with top talent is crucial to attracting more professionals to the industry.
